In a sefer, people think they have to write perfect and weighty things that will stand up to the scrutiny of generations. In a journal, people are more relaxed. Some people will write speculative fluff, and they get it in because they're influential. But when you get a real talmid chacham who's writing in a more conversational style, that's a good combination.Barzilai/Eliezer Eisenberghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16036989084122930226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453787673476195995.post-78572011583158805452013-12-02T12:55:40.605-06:002013-12-02T12:55:40.605-06:00Reb Moshe told me that in Russia, there was a sect...Reb Moshe told me that in Russia, there was a sect that davka did as many aveiros as they could, because the Gemara says Mashiach will come either in kulo zakai or kulo chayav, and there's no hope for zakai.

I was just looking through the old Hamaors. I don't think you can say quite the same about Dovid haMelech, but maybe there is an idea that davka because he suffered so much he was zocheh to at least put in place the dream of binyan habayis. So the suffering and the chanukah go hand in hand.

how did you find r' wahrman's piece?Chaim B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02231811394447584320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453787673476195995.post-11728553528272202592013-12-02T10:26:12.782-06:002013-12-02T10:26:12.782-06:00Done.Done.Barzilai/Eliezer Eisenberghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16036989084122930226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453787673476195995.post-22099327725400096582013-12-01T23:46:28.839-06:002013-12-01T23:46:28.839-06:00The pney yehoshua on nes pach Hashemen would fit n...The pney yehoshua on nes pach Hashemen would fit nicely hereElihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12793717193734899866noreply@blogger.com
