Maybe when we are dealing with Inyanei Missah it is appropriate to remember that "ki lo bemoso yikach hakol" so we disallow things that might place emphasis on people's financial status. (I realize that the Ikkar Takana is Shelo Levayeish. I'm only suggesting a reason as to why Chazal focused on this idea here).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453787673476195995.post-36310755116247202022011-09-16T10:09:50.682-05:002011-09-16T10:09:50.682-05:00I am going to talk on Viduy Maasrot and Viduy Biku...I am going to talk on Viduy Maasrot and Viduy Bikurim tomorrow. I thought it was still cheaper, and the baskets were almost worthless, so no one wanted to carry them all the way back. I actually disagree with what he said: Zeh Keili ve'Anveihu and Le'Mashcha mean that you do mitzvos in the most beautiful way you can, and there's no reason to think or say that it's only to show off. In fact, the way I put it, that it lacks in Leiv Nishbar ve'Nidkeh, was my way of trying to improve the vort. He doesn't say it's lacking Ruach Nishbarah, he says that it is blemished by ga'avah, which to me, LA'D, makes no sense at all. Maybe I shouldn't have put it in.bnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453787673476195995.post-54943518322938629692011-09-15T13:11:18.236-05:002011-09-15T13:11:18.236-05:00Chances are, many who came with precious metal bas...Chances are, many who came with precious metal baskets were very sincere and not materialistic. They had the best, so they brought it. Only Torah authorities on an extremely high level, able to weigh all factors, could legislate not using these glittering baskets.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
