I am sure they would be similarly insightful and appreciated by a lot of people. I don't think it is hard to see that you have a lot of Torah knowledge. But I think it also apparent in your blogs/comments that you have a sense of 'normalcy' about you that people like me can relate to and appreciate. Even if chatzi shiur in mitzvos is a maaseh mitzva, the chiyuv remains, and I imagine that means it would remain a bittul asei (but I could hear that it's not that simple, but that's just lomdus.) That nobody paid so much attention in our circles- I don't know why that is. But I know that my father, while he was a musmach who expected to become a rov in a certain town in Litteh, and he knew the dinim of shiurim including the minutiae of mikvaos and calendar calculations and maseches Derech Eretz, didn't obsess about these things. This is far beyond my pay grade, but I think that there's a different kind of relationship with the Ribono shel Olam for some people, and we've lost that, and trying to imitate it is not going to work; it would deteriorate into nonsense like davening shachris at noon.Eliezer Eisenberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16036989084122930226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453787673476195995.post-72956336775724628732014-03-31T18:08:59.330-05:002014-03-31T18:08:59.330-05:00I also don't remember my grandfather mentionin...I also don't remember my grandfather mentioning it once, despite his father being the Rov of his town and a very accomplished talmid chochom. I actually find the concept of shiurim of eating matzah and maror difficult to understand. We basically need to eat more than is comfortable in a time frame that is more like ben drosai than bnei chorim. Have you ever seen a nobleman eat so much so quickly? I know that is not a very "halachic" argument but it just seems so out of place on a night when we are eating as noblemen and free men.Avrohomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453787673476195995.post-57054972191635029142014-03-31T05:40:32.550-05:002014-03-31T05:40:32.550-05:00I don't remember that he mentioned it even onc...I don't remember that he mentioned it even once. On the contrary. He made it pretty clear that in Slabodka, nobody except the shamosh was interested in such matters. They were focused on becoming gedolim in Torah. This question is not related to yo...Rav Eisenberg,

This question is not related to your post (so sorry for the side question) but I was wondering whether you recall at sedorim when you were younger whether the issue of shiurim was mentioned? Did your father stress the idea of shiurim of matzah and how much is required to be eaten in how long and if so, was this common in his youth or at the yeshivas he attended?
