Hungary and Lithuania

Some similarity, but a vast difference.

From Dor Revi'i.

Reb Moshe, brought in the Kol Rom, says something a beautiful thing that is, on some level, similar, and at the same time fundamentally different. Reb Moshe says that the fact that nissim happened that brought him there, this proved to Yaakov that the Ribono shel Olam did not want him to learn there. If Hashem wanted him to learn there, he would not have been brought through nissim. Limud HaTorah requires a personal decision and disciplined personal effort, with no divine assistance, because כך היא דרכה של תורה. The fact that he was brought via nissim was clear proof that he was supposed to rest.

But it is true that Reb Moshe indicates that the time had come for Yaakov to live a life of teva that is transformed by kedusha, and this was the purpose of davka letting him sleep, and davka in that situation revealing to him the awesome vision of the Sulam.
